Hana no Star Kaidou
Famicom’s game developed and published by Victor Musical Industries in 1987, Hana no Star Kaidou (“Blossoming Star Highway”) is a plateform game about two musicians who dream of obtaining a recording contract and becoming big stars in Tokyo. The particularity of the game which makes it almost unplayable is that the player must control both the two musicians (Moeta Hatano and Goro Toyota) at the same time. Jump over gaps, avoid attacking paparazzi with music notes (!!) becomes an inferno. The time limit adds more stress when it comes to finding an escape to the mazes. Moreover the goal of each level gets differents without being clearly explained. Badly designed, uncontrollable, repetitive, Hana no Star Kaidou has easily gained through the years the “kusoge” but cult status.
